Monecia Taylor

Vice President for Advancement
Monecia Taylor, who has served as a senior leader in ascending roles within Virginia Tech’s Advancement Division since 2016, was named vice president for advancement for the university in December 2024.
She previously served as senior associate vice president for advancement. As vice president for advancement, she oversees division-wide fundraising, long-term planning, coordination of Advancement’s senior leadership team of directors and program managers, and leading multiple efforts in support of major priorities of the university president.
Before joining Virginia Tech in 2016, she served as an associate director of the Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum, overseeing the external affairs division of the museum.
Taylor has a bachelor’s in business administration from the University of Mary Washington and served in several fundraising roles at her alma mater earlier in her career. She has also served as assistant head for development at St. Margaret School and as director of development for George Washington University's Fredericksburg Foundation.
A native of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Taylor continues to serve on the UMW Foundation Board of Directors. She served several years on the UMW Alumni Association Board of Directors and in 2013 received the Frances Liebenow Armstrong ’36 Service Award, which recognizes alumni for the longevity, consistency, and breadth of contributions.
